ADHD & Executive Functioning Coaching
What is executive functioning?
Executive function is a set of skills we use everyday to learn, work, and manage daily life. It includes:
* working memory - the ability to hold information temporarily, kind of like a mental sticky pad, helping you remember some details while working on a task.
* self control - the ability to stay on task, stay focused, resist distraction and make informed decisions.
* flexible thinking - adapting to new situations, moving between different tasks and problem solving.
Individuals with executive dysfunction often struggle to analyse, plan, organize, schedule, and complete tasks. They misplace materials, prioritize the wrong things, and get overwhelmed by big projects.
Executive functioning coaching can help learn strategies to plan, monitor and execute goals.
What is ADHD?
ADHD is a condition that can affect your executive functioning. It is normally present from birth.
Do you have difficulty staying on task and paying attention?
Are you impulsive? Do you finish other people’s sentences/interrupt them while they are talking?
Do you struggle with time blindness? Being late for things despite starting early enough to be on time.
Are you hyperactive? Unable to stay still in situations where one would normally be expected to?
Many adults are starting to realise that they may have ADHD and are seeking diagnosis and support.
How can coaching help?
Coaching offers clients a space to learn about themselves and what they value. It is a collaborative process created to facilitate personal growth and self-awareness.
Coaching can help re wire your brain to build on the successes in your past, rather than focusing on the difficulties.
