About Míde
My journey with ADHD started long ago. I am a mother of 4 adult children, all with ADHD, and was diagnosed with ADHD as an adult myself. When my children were diagnosed, between 1999 and 2006, there was very little by way of support. After my own diagnosis, I was looking for support and realised that there was coaching available. Once I experienced the value of ADHD coaching, I set about trying to find out how to become a coach. I signed up to the ADD Coaching Academy (ADDCA) and recently graduated as an ADHD Coach.
I have been working in the childcare sector in Ireland for more than 30 years. I currently co-run a service with over 200 children enrolled. Part of my work has always been offering extra support to the children in our care with additional needs. We have long since been aware of the necessity to identify triggers, develop strategies, train our staff, and be ready to step in before an incident unfolds. There are many tools available to help children with self-regulation now, but this is relatively recent here in Ireland. As a result, there are many older children, teenagers, young adults, and indeed older adults in need of support.
My mission is to help bring awareness of ADHD to society in general, to foster positive change through coaching, and to bring hope and inspiration to help others find their true selves. With the help of the ADDCA models, I hope to show that we can not only survive, but thrive, and live a more fulfilled, positive life.
